Thinkific retires its Basic plan: Start at $82/mo is the new floor

Thinkific removed its Basic plan for new customers on 26 October 2026. The cheapest plan on the pricing page is now Start: $82 a month billed yearly, or $109 month to month. Above it sit Grow ($164 yearly, $219 monthly) and Expand ($374 a month yearly). Yearly billing saves 25%.

Thinkific pricing page showing plans and prices, captured 3 Nov 2026

Thinkific’s pricing page as we saw it on 3 Nov 2026 (annual billing). Prices change, so check the live page before you buy.

What did not change: Thinkific still charges 0% transaction fees, and courses and students are unlimited on every plan. It still does not replace a proper email tool, so most coaches pair it with Kit or MailerLite.

Does it change our verdicts?

Yes, in places. Thinkific was our budget pick because Basic cost $40. At $82 it is no longer the cheap option. Teachable Starter ($29, plus a 7.5% fee) and Podia Mover ($42, plus 5%) are now the lowest-cost ways to sell a first course. Thinkific’s case is now about what you get: unlimited courses, no platform fee, and a mature course builder.

What to do: Already on Basic? Keep it as long as Thinkific lets you. Deciding now? Put your own sales numbers into the true cost calculator.
